 Results

For the first round, many of the players were away and took a half point bye. Three high quality hotly contested games were played. John Foxall played an attacking gambit line against the highest rated player Jeremy Fallowfield. In a very complex game, Jeremy eventually won a pawn and John's position gradually deteriorated until he was forced to resign. Adam Ware was black against Dan Jones and also played a gambit line but in the French defence. However he came out of the opening a pawn down with little compensation. Dan was then kind enough to gift Adam back a pawn and eventually they settled for a draw.

Che put up a good fight against NIc's Catalan and declined the gambit pawn. Eventually Che lost a pawn and Nic then converted the ensuing endgame to a win.
